Visualisation

There are many different types of user of an MES Solution, each of which has specific visualisation requirements.

Whatever type of terminal the user is sitting at, and whatever their specific requirements, one thing is common – the need to view relevant information in a relevant format at the appropriate time to enable the appropriate business decisions to be made in a timely manner.

At EmsPT we believe that the key to a successful MES Solution is good and appropriate visualisation of information, and with this in mind we have developed HMI applications for deployment to many and various terminal types.

Warehouse operators or delivery staff may require an HMI to enable them to interact with an inventory tracking and genealogy system, recording delivery; storage and despatch of goods.  These users may be using a hand-held mobile PC with integrated barcode scanner.

Production operators and supervisors require easy to interpret ‘headline’ pieces of real-time information to enable them to understand at a glance to what is happening on their system in terms of (for example) line status, job progress, OEE, schedule adherence.

This level of user may be working in a hazardous or dirty environment, and may be gloved; interacting with a fixed terminal with touch-screen.The information displayed should be simple to understand and intuitive to interact with.

Supervisors/Production Managers may require a deeper level of granularity of the same data, displayed on a tablet PC.

The headline information on an operator’s screen may be relevant to all personnel in a manufacturing environment on a read only basis, requiring perhaps the information to be displayed on a number of large plasma screens in strategic locations in the facility.

Staff at management level may require web-based reporting and KPI capabilities at their desk, but also access from home, and perhaps from their mobile phones.

At EmsPT we understand and appreciate each of these nuances, and have HMI technology that enables us to build graphically rich HMI applications that can be deployed to any device type, be they mobile devices with integrated scanners; fixed location touch screen panel PCs; ruggedized PCs in a production environment;  tablet PCs; office based PCs with web access or bring your own devices (such as Android phones or iPhones).
