To run a Lean Manufacturing operation and yet be responsive to customer demand for non standard product components and deliver reliably without extensive and costly stock holdings.

Implementation
EmsPT's Scheduling expert worked with Kingspan to develop a rationalized scheduling approach specifically for their business. Virtually each part manufactured is unique and is produced on-demand. The assignment of static part numbers to identify each part was therefore impractical but without them the assembly process would require vast stock holding for work in progress. An innovative solution combined with the flexibility of the APS software allowed ‘virtual' part numbers to be assigned resulting in each part being individually synchronised to be available at the right time and right place without excessive stock holdings.
